It's what we do

As I was shooting last weekend for Olivia's birthday party, I had a smile on my face. Not just because Olivia was a blast to be around with her beaming face and adorable laughter, but because I was doing something that I love.

When I switched to the Art field my freshman year, it was originally for graphic design. I had always thought it fascinating and wanted to dive right into it. I'll admit that I wasn't very good. At all. But it was something that I enjoyed doing. The idea that there was so much organization to it is what I think drew me (no pun intended) into that field.

Well how then did you become a photographer? Good question. I was accepted into the study abroad program while at JBU. I would get to spend 3 months over in Belfast. Awesome. Not so awesome? That semester through my graphic design hopes all out of wack as I needed to take a crucial design class that fall. SO. Photography was kinda pushed on me.

I had no idea what I was getting into. I knew nothing about dslr cameras, depth of field, aperture, shutter speed, nothing. BUT, I had a great teacher for intro. Learned a ton, then got the hang of it. Then, long story short, fell in love with it.

It's been my goal for a while to be completely freelance. The idea of being my own boss has such appeal to it. I get to work my own murderous hours instead of being forced to by some bossy boss. Now, I'm nowhere near being completely freelanced. That's a ways off, unless my audience spreads the word and work just blows way out of the water. That'd be kinda cool! But I'm starting to get there. And I love every bit of it. Shooting pictures, interacting with people (which is really surprising because I'm pretty much a complete introvert), editing, all of it. Especially seeing people's reactions to my work.

"We base ourselves strongly on the idea of providing top quality services and products while maintaing a Christian, professional mindset"
That's my statement for right now. I love the idea of providing amazing service to my clients. Top notch product is the only thing that I want to give my audience. And most importantly, to do so with a Christian mindset. An ideology and philosophy that honors God. That's what we are about here. That's what we will always be about. It's what we do.

I can't wait to see what we're going to do in the future. I hope it takes off and brings us beyond anything we can imagine. And you, O Readers, you can help. I'm glad you all get to experience this with me. It's gonna be a fun ride.

God Bless,
Antony Floyd, Owner of Antony Floyd Photography & Design
